Funded through the District of Columbia Department of Health, HIV/AIDS Administration, T.H.E. provides free facility-based supportive and emergency housing to HIV-positive, low-income TGLB and other individuals who meet the eligibility criteria for these programs.

In addition to providing up to six months of free housing in a home-like environment, our Supportive Housing program provides the following services:

  • Client-centered individual treatment plans designed to assist and ensure that each resident progresses successfully to independent living.

  • Case management provided by health professionals working in collaboration with the client and T.H.E housing staff.

  • Referrals and follow-up, as appropriate for each client, to mental health, medical care, substance abuse, support groups, and social services.

  • Individual and group counseling.

  • Seminars and workshops designed to enhance job readiness, self-sufficiency in daily living activities, and to promote healthy living.

  • Computer training sessions and access to the Internet to improve job readiness skills.

Emergency housing is provided to each eligible clients for up to 60 days and includes assistance in securing more stable housing and employment.
